our story

Manuel & Clare, Catira’s founders

Why Catira?

“Catira” means blonde girl in Venezuelan slang. Our name represents the backstory behind our unique restaurant project. Just over a decade ago, Manuel, a Venezuelan, came to the U.S. from the capital city of Caracas. It was in Boston that he met and fell in love with Clare, a Denver-native, who herself is a “catira”. Catira began with a simple idea: bring the beloved flavors of his hometown to her’s. Our guests can expect to find traditional Venezuelan food served in a vibrant and energetic space that gets you as close to the feeling of the Caribbean as you could hope for in land-locked Colorado—from the way we serve our beer to the Spanish you’ll hear exchanged in the kitchen and behind the bar.

Manuel + Clare (La Catira) = Catira

OUR SERVICE

No matter where you’re from, we’ll make you feel at home

At Catira, we embrace the warmth, generosity, and spontaneity of Caribbean hospitality.

Hospitality in the Caribbean is more than a warm welcome—it’s a way of life. Guests are treated like old friends, meals are meant to be shared, and there’s always room for one more at the table. At Catira, we bring that same spirit to every visit. Whether you’re here for a quick bite or a long night of stories and cocktails, our goal is simple: make you feel at home, no matter where you’re from.

OUR CULTURE

This is our take on the heart and soul of the Venezuelan house party

—where the food is made with love, the drinks are always flowing, and strangers become friends. It’s the kind of place where you come for a quick bite and end up staying for hours, caught up in conversation, laughter, and one more round of rum. We’re here to help you slow down and enjoy every minute.

Our menu is bold, craveable, and made to be shared.

We specialize in the authentic, everyday food you can find in Venezuelan kitchens, street carts and seaside cafés. Think juicy meats, sweet plantains, fresh avocado, creamy garlic sauce and a LOT of cheese. Our drinks are just as tempting—refreshing and tropical, with plenty of rum to keep the party going. Expect a space that feels like an escape to the tropics, with vibrant colors, retro patterns, and music that makes you want to dance.

And we want you to know that you’re always invited

—whether it’s for brunch after your workout, happy hour with colleagues, or a momentous birthday celebration, we’re here for you no matter the occasion.

Welcome to our little piece of Venezuela in Denver.

Welcome to Catira. Come as you are. Stay as long as you want.
